Elias missed three and a half days of school this week with a nasty stomach/fever virus. Last night we thought he had beat it.
He asked for mozzarella cheese and salami.
"I love this salami. Do you love salami?" he asked as he stood on his stool at the counter watching his Dad make pizza.
Both he and Olive were asleep before 8:00 allowing Nick and I to chill out on the couch and watch two episodes of The Wire. We contemplated a third show but opted against it knowing Olive would wake soon enough.
So we climbed into bed and wrapped our arms around each other...
...just in time to hear Elias coughing.
"I'm checking on him," Nick said and jumped out of bed.
"Christy!"
Well lets just say, instead of an intimate evening we started a load of laundry at midnight. We put our own desires on hold to hold our son's head over the toilet.
And of course Olive woke up amidst it all.
Oh parenthood, you can be so rewarding and so painstakingly cruel.
My son threw up hotdogs in the middle of the night one time and I will never, ever forget it! Hope tonight is better!

cruel is right. we still have stains on the rug in a perfect pattern where a crib once stood. It was uncanny how she could tell in the dark where the remaining clean spots were and then projectile vomit so perfectly to the target! hopefully the laundry is slowing and your vivacious elias has returned.

We had two pukers here, a 2 year old and an 8 month old. It was horrid and I'm still feeling quite sleep deprived. I hope Elias is feeling better now!

I wouldn't call him vivacious yet but he was back in school today after making it through Sat. and Sun. without getting sick. No more fever but still a lot of crud in his upper airway with constant nose blowing. So far, cross my fingers, the rest of the family has been spared. I wish I could say the same for his teacher:(
