"I'm named after a mountain," Elias says, as he stands on his red stool so he can help me grind coffee beans.
"Yes, you are, Mt. Saint Elias." And then without thinking I ask, "Do you know what a saint is?"
"No."
"Well, um,... a saint is someone who chooses to do the right thing most of the time." I hadn't really thought through how I would explain to Elias the idea of sainthood. "Someone who acts from a place of love and um... truth."
Elias releases the button to the grinder and says: "Like a dog?"
I laugh at his answer but can't help but think that he's right.

As I'm sitting here watching my beagle try and engage the kids in a game of soccer...I totally agree with Elias. He is very wise for his young years.
