Listening to the Dead, drinking a Pyramid Hefeweizen, alone in my room on a Saturday night.
Nick's working outside in the garage and I just finished putting away a week's worth of clothes.
Never mind.
Nick just left the room. He's gonna watch something and now I'm torn between writing and snuggling with him on the couch.
I've been writing less because Nick and I have had time together, at night, after the kids go to sleep; and I'd forgotten how nice it is to have a husband and not just the father of your kids.
I love him.
Nick and I have an easy kind of love, like the ocean on a calm day-- not after a tropical storm-- just deep and endless, for as far as the eye can see.
And the ease of it, and the depth, is what bolsters me through every obstacle, every obstruction in our road, like the constant lick of waves transforming boulders to stones.
I think I might want to watch something too.
Good Night.
Sleep well in your warm house!!

Thanks Kate and so true. I feel fortunate, especially after hearing that 80% of couples with special needs children end up getting divorced. I understand how it happens and am glad that Nick and I support each other instead of tearing each other down.
Mom, with the new windows and furnace our house is feeling even more snuggly. Thanks for all your help!!!

I've followed your blog since you wrote for Parents magazine and just appreciate how you just put everything out there for all to see. I don't know if you've stumbled across this woman's blog but her blog reminds me of yours.

Hi Christy, your Nick definitely sounds like a keeper! I also want to point you to a blog that always remind me of you, something about the mountains, an ex-preemie and his little sister: http://6512andgrowing.wordpress.com/2011/09/20/trust/#entry
