"I Found the Brown Jug!" Elias sits at the kitchen table exploring Google Maps on his Ipad.
Sure enough, he left our house on Doris Street, turned up either 32nd or 34th, right on Lois, left on Woodward, and located the liquor store from our old neighborhood that we haven't lived in for almost two years.
Yeah, and um, he's legally blind.
Crazy, indeed.
All of it.
!!!
That's awesome.

Is his a condition where the vision can improve? Or has he made up for it with a keen nose for liquor?

Danielle, his vision is still a mystery to us, its seems to fluctuate, as if at times he's not even using his sight and at other times he is able to control his eyes better. His main issue is with the communication between his brain and his eyes, not his eyes themselves and since his brain is always changing so is his sight. As to the keen nose for liquor I think he got that from his Nana...
...just kidding Mom:) Yes, he can find M&Ms and cookies and anything sweet, a true Everett.
And I can't navigate Google Maps as well as he can!

This made me laugh out loud! I can't find a damn thing on Google maps and my eyes are fine! Maybe Elias can tutor me.
Or maybe he's visited that store a few times...your secret is safe with me!

such mysteries! I can't see my alarm clock in the morning but if I am an inch from my mirror I see every last hair! I've heard this will come in handy as I age. Is Elias sight pretty good if something is that close to him?

Oh Shelley, yes, he has walked those roads more than once, or rather been pushed in a stroller and possibly, maybe, even held a six-pack by his feet on the road home.
Flem, yes he holds his face a few inches from the screen or from his books in order to see. This morning a huge orange moon rose above the city as we walked to school but he couldn't find it with his eyes. But he can read small font if he gets real close.
