Elias sits next to me on the couch as I hold his cranky sister who started screaming when I told her she couldn't watch a show at 7:00 am.
He bounces up and down on the leather sofa and says: "I'm happy that it's March 2nd. And I'm happy that I'm awake. And I'm happy that I get to go to school today."
(And sure he tried to hit his father in the kitchen ten minutes later when Nick redirected him from copying his sister but...)
Elias walks out the door before me. When I join him he says, "I'm just standing here listening to the birds. It's nice to listen to the birds. Are they saying good morning or just singing?"
"I think they are singing good morning," I say, as I grab the sled to pull my ever-present boy to school.
"Its nice to listen to the birds," Elias says.
Yes, and we all need to take the time to do this more often.
(And for East coast folks: Happy Saturday!)
AMEN! This was just what I needed to help turn around a very rough start to our day. I'm going to go find my version of listening to the birds (it's raining here in DE). Thanks! Hope it's a good weekend!

Hope you found some birds amidst the rain.
